

Vi was preceded in death by her husband, Billie Haynes “Bill” Laha, her son, Billie Wayne Laha, formerly of the Houston Police Department and her 11 siblings. She is survived by her daughters Nancy Laha Clark of Conroe and Bettye Jane Hooter of Montgomery, son-in-law, Murray G. Clark, daughter-in-law, Irma Laha and grandchildren; Glenn Eric Clark, Beverly Jane “Janie” Helickson, Jonathan Campbell Clark, Scott Laha, Barbara Jean “Barbie” Venables, Leslie Laha Freeman, Brian Daniel Laha and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vi was one of 12 children of George and Annie Madlock and was born near Patmos, Arkansas. She met and married the handsome Bill Laha in 1947 in Hope, Arkansas. Vi and Bill moved with their three small children to Houston in 1952 where they made their home thereafter. Vi worked for many years as a dental assistant before attending LVN school. She worked for several years as an LVN before retiring. Due to declining health, she moved to live with her daughter Bettye and was lovingly cared for by her niece Roxie Marie Stodder until her death.
Vi was a vivacious and outgoing person and made friends easily. She was a good wife and mother, advocating for her children through various of their health issues. She was loved and will be missed.
A visitation for Viola will be held Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd, Houston, TX 77008. A graveside service will occur Friday, March 14, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Woodlawn Garden of Memories Cemetery, 1101 Antoine Dr, Houston, TX 77055.
