On June 14, 2025, Virginia Allison peacefully left her earthly home to enter the gates of Heaven. She was born on June 1, 1929, in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She spent most of her life in the Greater Houston area where she met and married Rochelle Edward Allison II in 1945. They had four children, Rochelle Edward “Eddie” Allison III, Carma Lee Allison Neilson, Patrick Dale Allison and Steven William Allison.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents William Hepburn Criswell and Golda Belle Gates Criswell and children Eddie, Patrick and Steve and great grandchildren Marlena Dyan Neilson and Ryan Paul Neilson and great-great grandchild Nolan Knox Neilson.
She is survived by daughter Carma Lee Allison Neilson and her husband Paul E. Neilson and 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, Alice (wife of Eddie) and Angela (wife of Steve).
She was called mom, grandma and meme and was certainly loved and cherished by everyone in the family. She was a leader in boy and girl scouting. Whatever program, project or activity her children were involved in, she was there to support them.
She was a homemaker during the years her children were growing up. Her work career included a variety of diverse jobs, including secretary at a hospital, post office and Randall’s grocery.
In the late 1990’s she met Joe Maynard. They quickly became good friends. This friendship turned into a long-term relationship for over 20 years that provided companionship along with lots of traveling and fine dining.
Her hobbies were genealogy and gardening. She was an excellent seamstress and made many of Carma’s clothes and costumes.
During the early years of her children, she was member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Houston. When she moved to Porter, Texas in 1981 she joined and became very active in the women’s ministry at Friendship United Methodist in Porter. She moved to New Braunfels, Texas to be close to her daughter and family where she resided at Kirkwood Manor Nursing and Rehab Center for 6 years.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to all those at Kirkwood Manor, Christus Santa Rosa Hospital and Hope Hospice for their quality, professional and loving care of Virginia.
Virginia was buried on June 19, 2025, in the Earthman Resthaven Cemetery in North Houston, Texas in Space 3, Lot 41D, Section 5A in Memorial Gardens.
A Celebration of Life
for
Virginia Belle Allison
On Sunday, July 6th, 2025**
We are asking that you come together (individually or with your own
family) to take a few moments to honor our loved one.
“Memories of Her”
Those we love can never be more than a thought away…
For as long as there is a memory they will live in our hearts to stay.
As memories of her flow, there are two things that we know…
A love for Dr. Pepper was always in her mind
And strawberry malt and shortcake were considered most divine!
Some of us are celebrating with Dr. Peppers (with sugar) and strawberries (malts and shortcakes). Please celebrate her with any memories that you may have of her and in your own way.
May we always remember her!

** or whatever day and time is best for you and your family.
