Virginia Belle Vercher

Virginia Belle Martin Vercher, 94, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 25, 2018. She was born in Rusk, Texas August 2, 1923 to Coy S. And Pink Martin. She graduated from Rusk High School in May, 1939 and went on to graduate from Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, in 1942. Virginia and David Vercher were married on September 15, 1950 in Houston, Texas and owned and operated Big State Sheet Metal Works for 30 plus years before retiring. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years David L. Vercher and her brother Jess Martin. She is survived by her son, Coy David Vercher, one grandson, Joshua Adam Vercher and one great-grandson, Joshua Anthony Vercher, many nieces and nephews and many close family friends. Virginia loved serving the Lord and her church. She was Sunday school teacher, and member of the Keenagers Club and Emmanuel Baptist Church, worked with the children and youth. She also served on the Finance Committee, the Centennial Celebration Committee and in whatever capacity was needed. She changed many diapers, cooked tons of casseroles and washed mountains of dishes! She will be missed. Our loving Mother, Grandma and Big Ma. Graveside service will be held a Sardis-Edgefield Cemetery in Rusk, Texas on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at 12 noon with Matt Martin officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Virginia’s memory to: Sardis –Edgefield Cemetery, 8217 FM 1857 South, Rusk, TX 75785.
