

Virginia was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Loyce Ray Wells and her beloved sons, Howard Ray Wells and Jim Ralph Wells. She married Lowell Q. Wells on October 14, 2006 and was married for six and ½ wonderful years prior to his death. She is also predeceased by her beloved daughter-in-law, Joyce Molene Wells and her three sisters, Gertrude Selma (Persons) Perry, Jeannette Margaret (Persons) Vaughn and Miriam Frank (Persons) Halick.
She is survived by her Grandson, Travis Wayne Wells and wife, Michelle Wells, Austin, Texas; Grand-daughter, Mandy Fults, husband Travis, Dallas, Texas; Great Grand-daughters Katherine Shannon Wells and Margaret Jane Wells, of Cedar Park, Texas, Great Grandsons, Grayson Wayne and August Wells Fults, Dallas, Texas, Great Step-Grandsons Mason and Connor Geraty, of Austin, Texas She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Virginia was born in Palestine, Texas. Her parents were Frank and Gertrude (Hennicke) Persons. She resided in Pasadena, Texas until her marriage to Ray Wells in 1944. She is the last of the four "Persons Girls." She and Ray were married for fifty-four years until his death in 1998. Virginia and her husband, Ray were long-time residents of Houston, Texas, before their respective deaths. Virginia held the position as Second Vice President of the Claims Department of Great Southern Life Insurance Company, when she retired in April 1987, after thirty-two years of service with that organization. She assisted her former department head, Berney Morgan, in establishing the Health Claims Department in 1954. She was made an Officer in 1964 and was one of the first women to be elected a company officer in the history of the Great Southern Life Insurance Company ("breaking the glass ceiling"). She enjoyed her work, subsequent retirement during which she was able to create a number of oil paintings, creative writings, sewing and reading. She loved her family and many friends. Virginia was a long-time active member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas.
The family will receive friends at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home from 11am – 12 noon with Chapel Service from 12 noon – 1pm, Graveside Service at 1pm, and a Celebration of Life Reception immediately following. Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception area is located at 6900 Lawndale, Houston, Texas (713) 928-5141. Reverend Mark Stanson (Virginia's nephew by marriage) will be conducting the service.
