

Walter Gideon Snowden, born July 17, 1920 to Porter and Viola Snowden in Allen, Texas, passed away July 9, 2010 in Houston. Mr. Snowden is survived by his beloved wife of almost 68 years, Bernice Rives Snowden; daughter, Bernice “Cookie” Ogden and husband, Gerald; grandson, Todd Ogden and wife, Rebecca, and their children, Annabelle and Teddy; granddaughter, Dr. Melissa Ogden Epker and husband, Dr. Jake Epker, and their children, Noah and Evie; sister, Mildred Gandin and husband, Bill; nieces, nephews, and other family.
Mr. Snowden served his country proudly for four years in the Navy during World War II. He was a letter carrier for the Post Office in Houston for 38 years, and a longtime member of St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church. Walter was a part-time resident of San Leon, Texas. He was an avid fisherman.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Heights Funeral Home. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 in the Chapel of Heights Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
