Wilford Victor Morris

Wilford Victor Morris, 96, passed away August 31, 2012. Wilford was born in Galveston, Texas April 10, 1916 (BOI) and moved to Houston, TX at the age of 4 with his family to the Eastwood Subdivision where he lived until his beloved wife, Mildred Bell Morris died in 2000. Wilford graduated from Downtown Sam Houston High School, and received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rice Institute ( now Rice University) in 1937.

After graduating from Rice he immediately went to work for Gulf Oil in the East Texas Oil Field for two years. He then joined Hughes Tool for the next 42 years, where he developed many patents. At Howard Hughes request, he worked with Summa Corporation as lead engineer to raise the Russian Submarine. After retiring he worked for 3 years with Stratabit.

He was a Mason, member of Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He played the clarinet and saxophone with several bands after his retirement.

A man of integrity during his entire life, he was still managing and controlling his investments, playing his instruments and active on the computer.

He leaves behind his sons Dr. Wilford Victor Morris, Jr of Sealy, TX and special friend, Patricia Sheldon of Houston, TX, and Dr. Robert Glenn Morris and wife, Paula of Houston, TX. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Donna Morris Cerny and husband Steven of Shiner, TX, Wilford Victor Morris III (Trey ) of Missouri City, TX, Nicole Morris Lozada and husband Dr. Robert Lozada of San Diego, CA and Dr. Robert Glenn Morris II and wife Mikaela of Denton, TX and and his adored great grandchildren, Brandon Cerny, Emily Cerny, Tiffany Morris, Nicholas Lozada, and Sophia Lozada.

The family wishes to thank the staff and his friends at The Hampton Post Oak and his special friend Eileen Thomas for his many wonderful hours of enjoyment and pleasure. The family also appreciates the caring services of his companions, Tiffany, Ariel and staff.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to a charity of your choice.

Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Monday, September 3, 2012 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home.

The funeral service will begin at 2pm in the Family Chapel on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 followed by interment in the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
