Born April 5, 1942, in Natchez, Louisiana, Wilfred Green joined the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. Wilfred worked, and retired, as a Texas Medical Center security guard for over 20 years and was known for his love for Jesus, and spreading the message “Blessed and Highly Favored” to everyone he encountered.
Wilfred loved being a messenger for the Lord and sharing the word of God whether behind a pulpit or one on one. Every chance he had to spread the love of Christ he did it, boldly, unafraid of people’s reaction to accept or reject Christ. He faithfully texted scriptures daily to his text groups, read the word of God, and listened to
gospel music as he sang along and danced.
Wilfred took his role as head of the house, as a devoted husband and as a present father, seriously as well. He prayed for, provided for, and protected his family with all he had.
On 9 September 2026, Wilfred, at 84 years of age, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Wilfred served as a soldier in the U.S. Army here on earth and now God has called him home to heaven to join the Army of the Lord.
Wilfred is survived by his wife, Eartha Green, who he shared in the honor, as of 1 May 2026, of having 60 Blessed and Highly Favored years of marriage and the family they created from that union. He is also survived by his two daughters, Cassandra Green and Virginia
Green, who had the honor to care and tend to his every need, since October 2021, through to his final departure; his two sisters, Vivian Johnson and Lillian Clark, who he loved endlessly and everlastingly;
his aunt, Elouise Shields, who he loved beyond measure; his sister-in-law, Irma Woods, who he loved and cherished.
We enjoyed many dinners every night as a family prior to his condition worsening. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Clyde Johnson who he loved and created many memories of family gatherings with; his many nieces and nephews and cousins, (Joi’Nicole, the Shields, the Clarks, the Zenos, the Owusu-Dukus, the Paiges, the Wades, the Paynes, etc.), both blood related and through marriage; and Bijou Bella, our family Yorkie, who he spoiled with belly rubs and playful attention. The love he had for all of us was infinite. Family is family. Always.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Olevia Green; his father, Thomas Green; his brothers, Oliver Green and Gary Green; many family and friends, and our other family Yorkie, Keiko GiGi.
We mourn his presence being absent. We miss his voice, his eyes, his touch, his personality, his essence. We don’t ask God why. Because we know that what God has decided is what’s best. We instead pray for continued peace and strength, so we are able to celebrate his 84 years of life on earth and not focus on his death, but rather his eternal life in heaven. He is truly blessed and highly favored because he is with Jesus now. He is in his perfect form.
So, as we celebrate the life of Wilfred Green, let’s smile and reminisce on the memories that make us happy to have known him. Until we meet again Bae, Buh, Bruh-in-law, Shorty, Unc, Daddy. We love you now and forever.
