William Gaston “Bill” Brouse was born in Houston, Texas on October 24, 1930 to parents William G. and Eron P. (Mynatt) Brouse. He passed away in Houston on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the age of 87.

Bill graduated from San Jacinto High School and went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Houston. During the Korean War, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed outside Atlanta, where he was to develop and write Technical Manuals.

For many years, Bill owned and operated Riteway Auto Service in the Almeda area. He also built one of the first self-service car wash facilities of its kind just next door to Riteway, and subsequently, several other new locations followed. He later owned and enjoyed Quarter Horses and the many racing activities involved with that sport.

In 1996, Bill retired to Burton, Texas, where he spent time on the City Council, was a member of American Legion Post #0345, and enjoyed rebuilding antique cars and old engines in his shop.

Bill is survived by his loving devoted wife of 65 years, Doris Padgett Brouse; their children, Valorie Brouse Rinn and her husband James, Vicki Jenice Brouse, Susan Brouse Sandel and her husband Tim, and James Ray Brouse. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jamie Brouse Rice, Jonathan Brouse, Hannah Brouse; his great grandchildren, Amanda and Benjamin Rice and by his sister-in-law, Lesley Brouse. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Michael Brouse.

Billy we will miss you and the MANY "fun times" we had together. We took trips, played cards and dominoes with you and Doris. You were a good friend to Bruse and helped him many times while he worked on cars. Doris and the girls gave you a "first class" remembrance; you should be proud of them.
Love, Nancy

Thank you, Bill, and the family, for giving me and my children, Jamie, Jon and Hannah, wonderful memories. My favorite time spent with Bill was when my oldest, Jamie, your great grand daughter, was a baby and we stayed over. I would wake up early to have that cup of coffee, and listen to your wisdom about life, while listening to the corn mill turn and pop. Those are my fondest memories, and I’ll forever cherish them. Your wisdom is and always be gold nuggets tucked away in my heart. Much love and my most sincerest condolences to the family. I love you all. ~ Shelley
