William “DJ” Dwayne Dick, Jr., was born on August 14, 1991, in Houston, Harris County, Texas, and passed away on October 27, 2026. DJ will be remembered for his generous heart, his love for family and friends, and his genuine desire to help others.
DJ leaves behind his loving parents, William and Leslie Dick; his sister, Katrina Chapa, and her husband, Gerald Chapa; his nephew, Cayetano Angel Chapa; and his twin nieces, Aubrey Chapa and Avery Chapa. He is also survived by his faithful companion, Piper, who he referred to as his baby, along with extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, W.D. and Dorothy Dick, Rudy and Barbara Garcia, and his cousin, Kyle Rice.
DJ attended North Shore High School where he cherished the friendships he made and enjoyed being part of the marching band and played the bass drum. Following high school, DJ attended Texas A&M University in College Station, where he graduated with honors from the Mays Business School. He went on to build a successful career as an Information Technology Solutions Architect.
While he accomplished much in his life, what mattered most to DJ was the time he spent with the people he loved. He treasured moments with family and friends and had a special passion for helping others whenever he could. DJ always looked beyond himself, was mindful of the needs of those around him, and lived by a beautiful principle: “I look in your cup to make sure you have enough, not to see if I have more than you.” Those words capture the generosity, humility, and selflessness that defined his character and the lasting impression he leaves on the hearts of those who knew him.
Though DJ's life ended far too soon, his legacy is found not only in his accomplishments but in the countless ways he cared for, valued, and supported others. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank the staff in the Surgical Liver Intensive Care Unit at Methodist Hospital TMC for their compassionate, loving care of our DJ.
