He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on May 9, 1940 to Martha and William Hamby. William worked over 40 years as an operational manager at IAH Intercontinental Airport. He was an active member of Greenridge Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
William is survived by his wife of 63 years, Hazel Hamby, daughters Cherrie Charles (Jack Charles), Sheila Ashabranner (Terry Ashabranner), grandchildren James Moon, Tasha Price, Melanie Moon, Tiffany Thompson, TJ Ashabranner, great grandchildren, Cody Moon, Justin Moon, Kinsley Price, Gavin Thompson, Brody Thompson, Brooklyn Ashabranner, brothers, Bobby Hamby, Donnie Hamby, sisters Patsey Pickens, Barbara Ann Bachelor and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and five siblings. William enjoy playing golf and spending time with family. He was a loving man and a great friend to all. He was loved by everyone that knew him.
