William F. Johnston, age 88, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Katherine J. Johnston. Also preceding him in physical death, were his parents -- William Johnston and Mary (Snavely) Fox. He had no brothers or sisters. God's grace still working in survivors: Son, Terry L Johnston and wife Diane; Daughter, Beverly S Hammond; Grandsons, Michael J Hammond and wife Susan; Duane L Johnston and wife Erica; Granddaughters, Melodee J (Hammond) Thompson and husband Kevin; Tera E (Johnston) Dudley and husband Jason. 4 Great-grandchildren: Caitlyn Dudley, Emma and Mason Johnston, and John Thompson. Dad enjoyed his vocation of the Lord. A tool and die maker, he was a loyal machinist for the same small company for 47 years before retiring. He had served Christ faithfully for many years as a Sunday School teacher and church deacon. Often he spoke of doing more machining, reading, studying, and/or traveling in his retirement years. (We all know how much he absolutely LOVED to drive!) Instead, he willingly continued in loving service to Mom as her full-time caregiver. With both careers on earth done, he now has all eternity to love and serve. "William Johnston truly knew what it meant to love unconditionally and you saw it through his love for the Lord and his love for his wife." "What a great legacy he leaves and a great example of what a servant of God is." "He will be missed by all he touched." Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, June 20, 2012 in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
