

father, grandfather, and friend, who died peacefully at the age of 89 on Monday, May 26, 2025,
surrounded by family. Known for his adventurous spirit and joyful heart, he loved to travel the
world and never missed a chance to dance.
Willie was born on December 15, 1935, in Ganado, Texas and was raised in Houston, Texas
where he graduated from Reagan High School. He went on to serve in the United States Air
Force being honorably discharged as an Airman Second Class.. Willie furthered his education
by attending the University of Houston graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Business
Administration. He then dedicated 24 years of his career to JC Penney, where he worked in
middle management before retiring in 1991. He later continued his commitment to helping
others through employment recruitment with the Texas Workforce Commission, retiring once
more in 2005. Even in retirement, he remained devoted to serving his community, volunteering
with MD Anderson Cancer Center and the Lords of the Streets Center for the Homeless.
Willie is survived by his daughters, Denise Hicks (Dan), Diane Cano (Robert) and his three
grandchildren, Robert Cano, Jr., Garrett Hicks and Emily Cano along with his sister Gloria
Partida. He is preceded in death by his wife Anita, his parents, Willie and Rachel Partida, his
younger brother Henry and his sister in law, Linda.
He will be remembered for his generous heart, unwavering work ethic, his devotion to his
church and the joyful spirit he carried through every chapter of his life. He was loved by his
family and friends. He will be missed by all.
A gathering will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, followed by
funeral service from noon to 1:00 p.m. at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North
Freeway, Houston, TX 77060.
