Winston Keith Lawther was born in Houston, Texas on Sunday, November 27, 1932, to parents, Melvin Autry and Grace (Mount) Lawther. He passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 22, 2013, at the age of 80.
On Wednesday, June 12 of this year, his beloved wife, Kitty, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara. Winston is survived by his brother, Milton Lawther and wife Ruth; his children, Ladelle Lawther, Keith Lawther and wife Pamela, Maureen Lawther Cunningham and husband Michael; grandchildren, Kimberly, Andrew and Timothy Lawther, Benjamin and Jonathan Cunningham.
Winston attended Reagan High School where he played football and basketball. After High School, Winston became a sheet metal worker. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. After his tour of duty, he returned to Houston and became a machinist and was still employed as such.
Whether it was camping, fishing or hunting, Winston loved the outdoors. He became very active in working with the Lions Club and loved to work at the Lions Club Camp.
Family and friends gathered at a memorial service to celebrate this wonderful man's life, in the chapel of Waltrip Funeral Directors 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, on Wednesday, July 31st at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Rick Jones of Houston's First Baptist Church officiating.
