

Alan Duane Carmack, 74, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away September 24, 2025. Mr. Carmack is survived by his sisters, Virginia Kaye Hill and Janice Nixon (Edward); brother-in-law, Fred Uptagrafft (Mary); numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ann Wilson, Wayne Neal and Charles Clarke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Billie Carmack; sister, Donna Uptagrafft, nephew, Michael Uptagrafft and brother-in-law, Curtis Hill. Alan was born on May 13, 1951 in Kingsport, Tennessee, and grew up in Huntsville Alabama. He graduated from Madison Academy in 1969, and after proudly serving in the US Air Force for 5 years, Alan obtained his BS degree from Alabama A&M University.
He moved to Colorado Springs in 1988 and retired from Exelis in 2013 with 25 years of service. Alan was a lifelong sports fan, particularly enjoying auto racing, ice hockey and basketball. He was an avid bowler for many years and enjoyed visiting US national parks and monuments. Alan was a loving son, brother and uncle.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Memorial donations may be made to the Spondylitis Association of America, Care and Share Food Bank of Colorado Springs, the American Legion, or the American Red Cross.
