

After high school graduation, she married and had two sons, Greg and Gary. She also began her career at Redstone Arsenal. While at NASA she earned her Business Degree from Athens State University graduating Magna Cum Laude.
While working as a Budget Analyst at NASA, she received several awards, including a Snoopy and a Director's Commendation for being selected as MSFC Professional Female Employee of the Year.
After retirement, she enjoyed many volunteer activities. These included the Court Appointed Juvenile Advocacy program, the Christian Women's Job Corp, tutoring at Chapman School, and the Master Gardener's program. She especially enjoyed her activities with the Huntsville Botanical Garden Guild where she served on the guild board for several years. She always enjoyed planting flowers at her home.
She was an active member for many years of the Saddletree Page Turners book club and neighborhood supper club.
Elen was enthusiastic about encouraging women to achieve their goals and was a member of the Philanthropic Education Organization (PEO Chapter AJ), which provides grants and loans for women's education.
She and Bill were fortunate to have been able to travel extensively over the United States and the world during their retirements.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Bill Taylor; her sons, Greg Boyett (Marsha); Gary Boyett (Leslie}; stepsons. Patrick Taylor (Annette}, David Taylor (Theresa), and Tim Taylor; and her brother James Leder (Suzi}. Her grandchildren are Danielle Vann (Seth}, Jacob Boyett (Mary Beth}, Joshua Boyett (Hannah}; Anna McDermott (Mike); Adam Czechowski, Ben Taylor (April); Scott Taylor; and several precious great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Ellen was preceded in death by her mother, Francis Leder, and her sister, Linda Brown.
Her greatest joy was to have her much loved family nearby and she was able to enjoy many family and holiday gatherings with them throughout her life.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 12:00 pm until 2:00pm at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Road, Huntsville, AL 35811 followed by a graveside service for family at Valhalla Memory Gardens at 2:00pm.
