
AVERY CARROLL HOWARD September 19, 1946 – January 28, 2015 Mr. Avery Carroll Howard, 68, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Crestwood Hospital in Huntsville. Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Avery Justice Howard and Agnes Gilmer Howard; a brother, Ben E. Howard, Sr.; 3 sisters, Bootie H. Raines, Syble H. Williams, and Ruby H. Stanley; his dear friends, Fred R. and Patsy A. Larue of TN. He is survived by his nieces, Holly Howard Dawson (Jim) of Williamston, SC and Mary Jean Snider (Thomas) of Piedmont, SC, along with other nieces and nephews and many friends. Avery graduated from Belton-Honea Path High School in South Carolina. He proudly served in the U. S. Army and was also a Chaplain’s assistant while there. After retiring from a career in Emergency Services with Redstone Arsenal, he volunteered with the Lacey’s Spring Fire Department. He was also a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Lacey’s Spring. Avery was an avid member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association where he was quite the entrepreneur for the organization and also their photographer. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lacey’s Spring Volunteer Fire Department at 10229 Highway 36 in Lacey’s Spring, AL 35754. There will be a memorial service conducted by Rev. Al Phillips held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 10089 Highway 36 in Lacey’s Spring, AL 35754.
