

Barbara Jean Dunkelberger passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sept 24, 2025. She was 94 years old. She was a cherished mother to her four daughters. She was born Barbara Jean Walker on 9/15/31 in Trenton, NJ to parents Horace and Jennie Walker. In 1949, Barbara graduated from Bristol High School in Bristol, PA . Two years later she would marry William Robert Dunkelberger on Oct 26, 1951 and they would be married for 66 years.
In 1954, they started a loving family and over the next few yrs they would live Massachusetts, New Jersey and Huntsville , AL before settling in Valparaiso, FL in 1972. They would spend 14 years there raising their family. While there, they were members of the United Methodist Church in Niceville, FL.
William and Barbara owned a restaurant in Ft. Walton and Niceville, FL. Eventually the family would move back to Huntsville, AL, and later she would work at Zales Jewelry store until she retired. Barbara was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose loved one’s will always remember her as a woman of kindness. Her generosity for family and friends were boundless and selfless. She enjoyed reading, being with family, her little dogs, watching birds and squirrels in the yard. She lived a long and meaningful life devoted to her family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Dunkelberger and Son-In-Law, Darrell Lannom. She is survived by her daughters, Diane (Art) Chapman, of Hendersonville, TN., Debra (Billy) King, of Douglasville, Ga., Daryl Lannom, of Huntsville, AL., and Dale (Mark) Parker, of Huntsville, AL. Grandchildren, Heath Meeks, Stephen Holmes, Stephanie Holmes, Kyle Lannom, Brian Lannom, Tyler Lannom, Daniel Parker, Justin Parker and Emily Parker. Eight Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on October 3, 2025 from 3:00-4:00 at Valhalla Winchester Rd Huntsville, AL. A private burial will take place.
