Barbara Jean Johnson

Barbara is survived by her son, Kevin Johnson of Huntsville, AL; her daughter, Judy Johnson Sisk of Goodspring, TN; her brother, Randy Ricketts (wife Judy) of Hazel Green, AL; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, William Thomas Ricketts Sr. and Laura Bell Ricketts; her husband, John Paul Johnson Sr.; her son, John Paul Johnson Jr.; her brother, William Thomas Ricketts Jr.; her brother, Louis "Buddy" Ricketts; her brother, Steve Ricketts; her brother, Roger Ricketts; her brother, David Ricketts; her brother, Danny Ricketts; and her sister, Sherry Ricketts.

Barbara was a member of Chase Park Church of Christ and a former member of Greenfield Church of Christ. She found steady joy in the simple, meaningful rhythms of life—traveling when she could, and filling her home with the comfort of cooking and baking. Time spent with friends over cards and games was a cherished pleasure, but nothing meant more to Barbara than the moments she shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved deeply and delighted in whenever she had the chance.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Road NE, Huntsville, AL. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3:00pm in Valhalla's Celebration Chapel. Mrs. Johnson will be laid to rest at Valhalla Memory Gardens immediately following services.
