Born February 28, 1938 in Millport Alabama, Betty graduated from Millport High School in 1956. Betty was a devoted homemaker for 62 years. She worked 25 years for US Army Civil Service; including two proud years as an Executive Assistant to Commanding General Ragano, Army Missile Research and Development Command at Redstone Arsenal. In addition, a founding member of the Madison County Alzheimer’s Association and a member of Madison Church of Christ.
Betty lived her life as Christ's servant and will be remembered for her kindness to others and love for family and friends. She never met a stranger, and was a blessing to all who met her. She lived as an example of what true love, compassion and mercy means. She had a great appreciation for cooking, playing card games, and enjoying God’s creation.
Betty is survived by her husband of 62 years, Wade Mordecai; son Steve Mordecai and wife Meg, son Greg Mordecai and wife Kim, and grandchildren Alexis Mordecai and Lucas Mordecai.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. withTom Dozier officiating.
