Billy loved working with numbers as a student, bookkeeper, accountant, and math teacher. He received a Master's degree from Alabama A&M University and a Bachelor's degree from Auburn University at Montgomery. Most of his teaching career was spent at Grissom High School where he retired after 20 plus years. He had a great love for studying the Bible and researching Bible topics.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Bettye Duncan; sons James Duncan (Susan), Bert Duncan (Danna), and David Duncan (Jacque); stepchildren Kevin Young, Kenan Young, Beth Young, Perry Young, and Lamar Young (Amanda); brothers James Duncan (Joyce) and Curtis Duncan (Joyce). He was affectionally known as "Granddaddy", "G", and Uncle Billy by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he dearly loved.
He worshiped with the Harvest Church of Christ in Harvest, AL.
Billy was preceded in death by his father Moses David Duncan, his mother Callie Maybelle Duncan, and several siblings.
A private family graveside service and burial for Billy will be held Sunday, December 20, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Valhalla Memory Gardens, 698 Winchester Rd Ne, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Huntsville Hospital Hospice Family Care.
