

BONNIE DEAS SMITH November 6, 1923 – July 5, 2016 Bonnie D. Smith, 92, passed away at a local hospital in Austin, Texas while visiting with her family. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on November 6, 1923. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford Earl Deas and Cora Mitchell Deas, and by her loving husband of 64 years, Erskine Smith. Left to cherish her precious memory are her two daughters, Dale Voyles (Jim) of Marietta, Georgia and Patricia Jordan (Mike) of Woodbridge, Virginia; and her two sons, Alan Smith (Lori) of Troy, Michigan and Phillip Smith (Nina) of Trussville, Alabama, as well as nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Bonnie was a loving mother and superb homemaker with a heartwarming smile. She was the true embodiment of a gracious Southern lady and had a winsome personality. As an Army wife for thirty years, she learned to be resilient, flexible, and creative and to easily forge strong friendships. She loved playing bridge and earned her Life Master in bridge. This was a hobby that she enjoyed until her death. She was an accomplished seamstress and expert at needlework of all kinds in her younger days. Bonnie Smith was dearly loved and will be truly missed by all that knew her!
