Carl Aaron Loy
July 31, 1927 – November 18, 2019
Carl A Loy, 92, of Magnolia Trace, Huntsville, AL, peacefully passed away on November 18, 2019. Carl was born in Fort Loramie, OH on July 31, 1927. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Left to cherish his memory are nieces and nephews: Louise Kennard, Cincinnati OH; Robert McGee, Blairsville GA; James McGee, Treasure Island FL; Michelle Dudon, Dayton OH; Sharon Dunbar, Dublin OH; Sandra James, Arlington TX; Susan Hardin, Ten Mile TN; and Nancy Frank, Centerville OH.
Mr. Loy was a retired structural design engineer, earning his engineer degree from Ohio State University, and then served in the US Army. He was cited in the Who’s Who in Science & Engineering for his many years of work with missiles. He was an engineer Missile Section of Bendix Aviation Corp; Engineer Missile Ops at Chrysler Corp; structural engineer Missile & Space with United Aircraft; and aerospace engineer Marshall Space Flight Center, where he retired after 30 years of service. Achievements include co-invention of tank construction for space vehicles; work on the Hubble Space Telescope.
Carl was a member of AIAA, the Society of Automotive Engineers, Auburn-Cord-Dusenberg Museum, and International Society of Poets.
You may visit with the family at Valhalla Chapel Funeral Home on Wed, Dec 4 at 1 pm. Services will be held at 2 pm, officiated by Rev. Danya Walls, chaplain Kindred Hospice.
