

Charles Dyer Bendall, Sr., 78, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away peacefully, surrounded by his three children, at Huntsville Hospital on Wednesday, September 30, 2020. He was born December 25, 1941 to Charles Franklin and Mary Violet Bendall in Florence, Alabama. Charles graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Alabama in 1966 and with a Master of Administrative Science degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 1971. Throughout his life, he was determined, focused and resilient in all of his endeavors. He cherished his family and friends. He loved spending time on his farm. He deeply valued education and fostered, in himself and others, a broad understanding of life and the world. He founded the Apartment Association of North Alabama, enjoyed participating in the Toastmaster’s Club and served on the Huntsville Symphony Board of Directors as a two-term President. He built his real estate business in Huntsville, where he worked tirelessly until the time of his death.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents Mary Violet Bendall and Charles Franklin Bendall. He is survived by his children Mary Bendall Henley (Brian), Laurie Bendall (Jim Tharp), Charles Dyer Bendall, Jr., his grandchildren Evan Gravatt, Jackson Gravatt and Elizabeth Henley, his sister Mary Frank Cole (James) and their children James Franklin Cole (Daniela), Lynn Cole Hardiman (David), Brian Cole (Carrie) and great nieces and nephews McKenzie, Madison, Alessandro, Elizabeth, Thomas and John David.
A Celebration of Life service will be held outside at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Huntsville on Monday, Oct 5th at 3:00 PM with the Reverend Mac Buttram officiating. The family would like to request that all those attending wear a mask and practice social distancing. The service will also be available by livestream through www.valhallafunerals.com.
