

Charles Steven “Charlie" Butler, age 78, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, in Huntsville, Alabama.Born on November 6, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Charlie was the son of Eva Mae Butler and Odell Davis Butler. He pursued higher education at the University of Tennessee, where he earned a bachelor’s degree that laid the foundation for a distinguished career. Charlie served his country honorably in the United States Army before embarking on a professional journey that spanned both engineering and real estate.
Charlie worked as an electrical engineer for NASA, contributing to projects that reflected his deep commitment to innovation and excellence. Later in life, he transitioned into real estate, where he continued to apply his analytical mind and personable nature to help others find their homes.
Charlie was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church #2 in Guntersville, Al.
Charlie also found joy in his hobbies and interests. He was a proud member of the Rocket City Hotwheelers club, where he shared his enthusiasm for collectible cars with fellow enthusiasts. This passion brought him lasting friendships and countless hours of enjoyment.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Phyllis Butler; his children Seth (Stephanie) Butler and Shannon Butler; his grandchildren Theo, Sutton, and Esther Butler; and his brother Wayne (Kay) Butler. He also leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews who were touched by his warmth and wisdom.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Eva Mae Butler and Odell Davis Butler; and his daughter Brooke Butler.
Visitation for Charlie will be held Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd, Huntsville, AL. Following the visitation will be the celebration of life at 1:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel, 698 Winchester Rd, Huntsville, AL. Charles will be laid to rest in Valhalla Memory Gardens, Huntsville, AL.
