Charlotte Lea Maddon

Charlotte Lea (Wright) Maddon, 55, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on September 1, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Charlotte was born to Charles William Wright and Leila Mae Wright on August 15, 1971, in Bakersfield, California.

Charlotte was the beloved wife of Ron Maddon. She was a devoted wife and mother, and Logan (24), Connor (21), and Garrett (19) were her greatest pride and joy.

Ron and Charlotte celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on May 30, 2026. They spent more than three decades together building a life, raising three sons, building a home, making lifelong friends, moving their family across the country, and weathering life's joys and hardships side-by-side. Her family was the center of her world, and she loved them with her whole heart.

Charlotte's Christian faith was central to who she was. Ron and Charlotte attended Winchester Road Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama. Before the family moved from California to Alabama, they were members of Valley Baptist Church in Bakersfield.

Professionally, Charlotte served as Controller for First Energy Service beginning in 2000, and more recently as Payroll Administrator for Huntsville International Airport. She was known for her diligence and care in her work, and for the relationships she built along the way.

Charlotte gave much of herself to others, especially her sons. For many years she was active in Scouting, first with Troop 47 in Bakersfield and later with Troop 228 in New Market, Alabama, serving as treasurer for both. The friendships she made through those years lasted long after the last campout.

An avid reader, Charlotte belonged to a book club during her years in Bakersfield. The books first brought the group together, but the friendships became what she treasured most, and she kept those bonds close across the years and the miles after moving to Alabama.

She was also devoted to her coworkers at Huntsville International Airport, who became far more than colleagues. During her illness they surrounded her with encouragement and support, and their kindness meant a great deal to Charlotte and her family.

Those who knew Charlotte knew her grace, her strength, her humor, and her love. She touched many lives, often simply in the way she treated the people around her. She cared deeply about her friends, but her love shone brightest at home.

In 2025, Charlotte was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. She met an aggressive disease and difficult treatment with remarkable determination, fighting not only against her illness but for more time with the people and the life she loved. As her health declined, she was able to return home, where Ron cared for her and she was surrounded by love to the end.

Charlotte is survived by her husband of 33 years, Ron Maddon; their sons, Logan Scott Maddon, Connor William Maddon, and Garrett Daniel Maddon; her parents, Charles William Wright and Leila Mae Wright; and her sister, Valerie Jean (Wright) Adams.

Charlotte's life will not be defined by the illness that ended it, but by the 55 years that came before: by her faith, her devotion to her husband and sons, the friendships she carried across years and miles, her service to others, her love of reading, her humor, and the grace and strength with which she lived.

Charlotte loved deeply, and she was deeply loved.

A service celebrating Charlotte's life will be held at Winchester Road Baptist Church on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Winchester Road Baptist Church or to the Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Fund at the Huntsville Hospital Foundation.
