Cornelia Luz (Dominguez) Collette, 86, went home to be with the Lord after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Mosquero, NM and moved to Colorado where she met and married her husband of 63 ½ years, Sylvester F. Collette. They had 4 children before moving to Huntsville, AL in 1972.
Cornelia was active in her church, a dedicated volunteer with Christmas Charities (cleaning and dressing in excess of 11,000 dolls), and a volunteer with the Center for Catholic Care and Concern and a faithful participant with Meals on Wheels delivering meals to the homebound for over 24 years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband after his retirement, with her favorite trips being to Israel and Greece.
She is survived by her husband, Sylvester F. Collette; four children Lucille (Scott) McMahan, Frank (Delisa) Collette, Joseph (Kimberly) Collette, and Matthew Collette; four grandsons; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Antonio Dominguez of Pueblo, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents Antonio and Socorro (Sanchez) Dominguez.
Her funeral mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Huntsville, AL at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 with Fr. Phil O’Kennedy and Fr. Roy Runkle officiating. Burial will be at future date in the family plot in Pueblo, CO.
In lieu of flowers, her family has requested that contributions be made to Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Huntsville, AL.
