Daniel Alvin Bailey

He attended Roswell High School, Class of 1968. He went into the US Navy and served across the world including time in Vietnam and London, England. Daniel served on the following ships: USS Westchester County and USS Nimitz. Daniel was honorably discharged in 1987. Following his 22 years of navy service, Daniel worked as a contractor in Pennsylvania before moving to Huntsville-which he considered to be home-in 1997. He loved his wife, his family and had many friends.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel and Gene Bailey, and sister, Sue Allman.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Elaine Bailey (nee Pruitt), daughter and son-in law Sandra and Neil Holmes and his grandchildren, Leah and Elian Holmes, all of Faversham, the United Kingdom and his son Richard Bailey, of London, the United Kingdom. Daniel is also survived by his niece Katrina Kee and her children and grandchildren Ryan Kee, Shelby Kee, Joshua Kee and Alex Kee.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the ICU nurses at Crestwood Medical Center and the congregation of Trinity Baptist Church for their support at this time.

You may visit with the family on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Road North East, Huntsville, Alabama, 35811. The service will be held at 2:00pm again at Valhalla Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens, Huntsville Alabama with Full Military Honors.
