David Patrick Waggett was born on October 13th,1968 during a hurricane on the Space Coast of Satellite Beach, Florida. Soon after his family migrated to the Rocket City of Huntsville, Alabama, where David would spend the majority of his life calling Home.
As a solid student and a standout athlete at Grissom High, David easily made lifelong friends wherever he went. He graduated from Auburn University in 1991 with his bachelor’s degree in business marketing, where he was a member of the Fiji Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and a diehard War Eagle.
David always had an easy and welcoming way about him. He rarely met a stranger without leaving them as a new friend. His family and friends meant everything to him. After many years of adventures with various sales-related careers around the southeast, David returned home to Huntsville.
David met and married another Huntsville native. Soon after his greatest pride and joy, Carter J. Waggett was born. David spent the last twenty years of his life sharing adventures with Carter and being exceptionally proud of the young man he is growing into. Even when Carter announced recently, he was accepted to the University of Alabama for this fall… David couldn't have been prouder.
Sadly, David departed this life after a massive stroke and a battle with liver disease and complications with his brother Chris Waggett, lifelong friend Chip Neider, and Carter by his side on Friday, 3 July 2026.
David is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents; Nan & Pawpaw Casey (AJ and Anne Casey), Grandma & Pappap Waggett (Joseph E. and Gladys Waggett), his parents Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Waggett and Joseph E. Waggett, Jr., and his uncle Patrick Casey.
David is survived by his son, Carter J. Waggett, his brothers Steve (Tammy) Waggett, and Chris (Stephanie) Waggett; as well as treasured nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 2:00pm at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Road NE, Huntsville, AL 35811, with Ralph Keel officiating.
