After graduating from Buckhorn High School, Dean served his country and was a decorated war veteran in the United States Army serving as a Sgt in Vietnam. After his service he went on to work and retire from PPG. He was a avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life.
Dean was preceded in death by his father Lonnie Gil Edwards, mother Lela Reeves Edwards, son Owen Dean Edwards, and his first wife Charlene Edwards.
He is survived by his wife Lagatha Baker Edwards; sister Patsy Edwards Turner (Roger); daughters Stacy Edwards Reed (Richard Jr.) and Regina Green (David); sons Jarrad Edwards (Linda), and Brandon Edwards; grandchildren Danae Reed Brown (Andrew), Cheyenne Reed, Kennedy Edwards, Cooper Edwards, Peyton Scalf, Parker Scalf, Nathan Edwards (Kristen), Caleb Edwards (Hailey), Christian Edwards, Britany Green and Trey Green; great grandchildren Aidyn Brown, Finley Brown, Eliza Brown, Paislee Edwards, and Denver Edwards.
A visitation for Dean will be held Friday, January 5, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home & Memory Gardens, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 PM. Burial with military honors will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
