Dorothy Jean Mefford

Dorothy Jean Mefford, 85, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016. She is preceded in death by her parents, Shelby and Lillian McClure; 2 brothers, Cleston McClure and Norrvell McClure; 2 sisters, Clarivon (Bonnie) Cleaveland and Jeneva McClure and daughter, Lenora Jean (Jeanie) Nayman.

Mrs. Mefford is survived by her husband of 65 years, John Wesley Mefford; 3 daughters, Cheryl Lynn Cash, Martha Yvonne Batson and Patricia A. Miller (Byron); 3 grandsons, John Martin Cash (Bridget), Joshua Vaughn Batson (Melissa), Matthew Ryan Batson (Kelly); one granddaughter, Nicole Lynn Pack (Chris); 12 great grandchildren, Haley and Hayden Cash, Ryleigh, Coleson and Gracie Pack, Sydney and Ellie Batson, Lillyan, Kayle, Gavin, Faeryn and Peyton Batson; and very close family friends, Lula Call, Ben Call and family.

Dorothy was born and raised in Beech Grove, Indiana. After marrying her husband, moved to Hazel Green, Alabama where they raised their four daughters. After retirement, they spent two years in Florida and moved back to Rogersville, Alabama.
