

Douglas Paul Byrne, born on June 24, 1957, in Washington, D.C., passed away suddenly on January 19, 2025 in Huntsville, Alabama. Paul was the beloved son of Jack and Vivian Byrne. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he served his country with honor before dedicating 40 years of service to the United States Postal Service, where he retired as a respected and valued member of his community.
A devout Christian, Paul lived his life guided by faith and compassion. He was known for his kindness and friendliness, touching the lives of everyone he met with his warm demeanor and genuine care for others.
Paul was a loving father to his two biological children, Jason and Kathleen, as well as to his two stepchildren, Christy and David, whom he cherished as his own. His unwavering love and support for his family was constant throughout his life.
Paul’s legacy of kindness and devotion will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his loss.
Paul is survived by his father, Jack, children, Jason, Kathleen, and Christy, and grandchildren, Nathaniel, Grayson, Elizabeth, Abagail, and Alyssa.
Celebration of life service will be on February 2, 2025, at Burritt on the Mountain at 3:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you donate to the Rose of Sharon Soup Kitchen.
