Eddie was born to Shelley Hammonds (deceased) and Betty Gardner on April 16, 1964 in Ardmore, Tennessee. He attended elementary and Jr. High at Toney School and played football at Sparkman High School until graduation in 1982.
Eddie worked various jobs throughout his life but Fowler Auction located in Toney, Alabama was his favorite.
His 16 year tenure included setting up items that were going on the auction block. He assisted with the liquidation of real estate, cars, and heavy equipment. One can only imagine that this was where his passion for automobiles first developed. Eddie’s favorite past time was repairing cars and trucks. He was a self taught car enthusiast that loved everything about the mechanics of a vehicle. He took great pleasure in buying them, modifying them, breaking them down and putting them back together with new parts. The most challenging repairs brought him the utmost satisfaction.
The love of family was Eddie’s greatest blessing. He did not require us to be perfect but he so desired that we remain united. He never defined us by last names or by blood – his idea of family is that no one is left behind or forgotten. Eddie knew that you didn’t get to choose family. But family was God’s gift to him and he was to us.
Eddie will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 11 years Jeanie Faye Gardner of Harvest, AL. Children: Christopher and Eddie Gardner Jr. (Mother Rebecca Jones) of Huntsville, AL.
