Evelyn Lance Harris

July 28th 1936 - March 20th 2024

Evelyn Lance Harris was born to Hinkley and Marie Lance in Cannon County, Tennessee on July 28th,

1936. She was preceded in death by husband James (Jim) W. Harris. She is survived by her son Philip and daughter-in-law Anne, grandchildren Hannah and David, siblings Don Lance, Clark Lance, and Linda Adair, her aunt and best friend Ocie Knox, and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn graduated from Woodbury Central High School in 1954 and married James W. Harris on July 10th 1955. Evelyn and Jim lived in various locations around the country. In 1965 Evelyn gave birth to Philip in Tullahoma, Tennessee and the family moved to Jim's hometown of Huntsville, Alabama in October of 1965 where Jima and Evelyn remained for the rest of their lives.

Evelyn was a faithful member of the Mastin Lake Road church of Christ from the 1960s and remained with them after the congregations 2022 merger with the Meridianville church of Christ.

Evelyn enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and bird-watching, but her most favorite things and activities were anything that involved family and friends.

A visitation for Evelyn will be held Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home & Memory Gardens, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811, followed by a celebration of life service at 3:00 PM.
