Evelyn Doris Sanders

March 7, 1923 – September 30, 2014

Evelyn Johnson Sanders, 91, passed away at home on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, surrounded by her family and best friend Pam Wise. Ms. Sanders was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William E. Sanders, and her brother, Glenn Johnson.

Ms. Sanders is survived by her 5 daughters; Darlene Kerr, Doris Bridges (Troy), Kay Matthews, Linda Crow (Mike), and Lana Stewart (Leonard) all of Huntsville, AL; 2 sisters; Helen McCann of Cincinnati, OH, and Mary Goy of Huntsville; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was a longtime member of Lincoln Church of Christ. She was a dedicated wife, mother, homemaker, and a great seamstress, and also worked as a beautician for a number of years. Evelyn said, “Home is where the heart is”, and the most important task to her was to make her home that way. She was the most beloved individual people have ever known, and the hospice nurses loved her so much they all wanted to take care of her. She never complained-even up to the end! She was dearly loved and will be missed by many.

You may visit with the family at Lincoln Church of Christ on Friday, October 3, 2014 from 11:00 AM until 1:00PM. Bro. Ron Williams will conduct a funeral service commencing at 1:00 PM with the entombment immediately following at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
