The world lost a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother on Friday, November 21, 2025, after a long illness at the age of 98. Flora was born on January 19, 1927, to Helene Weisskoph Fischer and Johann Andreas Fischer in Wurzburg, Germany.
She was an excellent cook and seamstress along with being the matriarch of a large family. This part of her life began after she left her homeland of Germany to begin a new life in America with her husband, Anthony Passero. It was quite an adventure for the newly married young Flora to teach herself English, how to drive a car, and be a military wife while moving all around the United States. Flora and Anthony entered into marriage in 1948, which lasted for 67 years until Anthony went to his eternal rest in 2016.
Flora will be dearly missed by her five children: Helen Hill (Randy), Frances Barnes (Van), Ronald Passero (Pam), Anthony Passero (Claudia), and Robert Passero (Melanie). Her grandchildren will miss her deeply: Aaron Hill, Jason Hill (Laura), Stephanie Jefferson (Brad), Heather Barnes, Morgan Reiniger (David), Maegan Gibson, Jonathon Passero (Lauren), Abbigael Passero, and Jay White
All her sweet great grands will always remember her: Anna Hill, Bailey Jefferson, Micah Hill, Savannah Smith, Briley Jefferson, Grayson Gibson, Aiden Gibson, Jamison Passero, Madison White, Morgan White, Ty Reiniger, Lily Gibson, Harper Passero, and Jax Reiniger. Flora is also survived by her sister, Elsa Saalfrank of Ansbach, Germany along with her many nieces and nephews in Europe.
Services will be Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Valhalla Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Huntsville, AL. Family visitation will start at 11:30 am with friends to join at 12:00 noon. Service will begin at 1:00pm. Reception with light appetizers to follow the service at Valhalla. Please join the family later at their family home.
