Frank Lewis Fulknier, 77, passed away on November 16, 2025, surrounded by family and love. Born December 16, 1947, in Charleston, West Virginia, Frank was the son of Frances “Cricket” Smith and Frank Fulknier Sr., and was later blessed with a wonderful stepfather, Doug Smith. All three preceded him in death, but their influence and love shaped the man he became.
Frank grew up in Opa-Locka, Florida, and after spending several years in Tallahassee attending Florida State University, he returned to South Florida, where he met the love of his life, Lillian Farley, at Lum’s in Carol City. They married shortly thereafter and shared over 50 extraordinary years together—years filled with partnership, laughter, and adventure. The two eventually settled in Fort Pierce in the 1980s, where Frank lived until this past year.
Frank was a devoted family man. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Lucy Wheatley—his only child and proudly his favorite daughter—and her husband, Keith Wheatley, whom Frank loved as a son. He took immense pride in his grandsons, Tyler Wheatley and Cody Wheatley, and he adored his sisters, Jennie Tedder and Fran Boling, along with his many nieces and nephews.
Frank lived a life rich with passions. A loyal Florida State Seminoles fan, he rarely missed a game. He loved the freedom of the open road, often riding his motorcycle with Lillian on long “around the block” rides that could last for hours. A talented golfer, he treasured the memory of having played alongside the legendary Bobby Bowden. Animals seemed to sense his gentle spirit, and he theirs—earning him the family nickname “Dr. Doolittle.”
Frank will be remembered for his warmth, humor, loyalty, and the quiet, steady love he offered to everyone around him. His legacy lives on in the family who adored him and in all the lives he touched with his kindness.
He will be deeply missed.
