

GEORGE “KENNETH” BICE December 26, 1936 – October 16, 2016 George Kenneth Bice, 79, passed from this life on Sunday, October 16, 2016. He was born on the banks of the Three Forks of Flint River in Madison County and eventually made his final home in the Gurley, AL community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia and Curtis Bice; brother, Earl T. Bice; and brother-in-law, Billy Brooks. Survivors that he shared his love with include his wife of 59 years, Sherry Matter Bice; three children, Kent Bice, Sheryl (Jeff) Bice Jones, and Kevin Bice; five grandchildren, Paige Bice, Carrie Ann Bice, Lauren Jones Kellum (Drew), Logan Jones, and Ethan Jones. He also shared his love with one sister, Doris Brooks; one brother, Jerry Bice (Judy); one sister-in-law, Neida Bice; and many nieces and nephews. Kenneth was a US Army veteran stationed in Darmstadt, Germany during the building of the Berlin Wall. Along with his service in the Army he worked at Hills Grocery which later became Winn Dixie. He then went to work with his sister and brother-in-law at Brooks and Collier. He later had his own Nursery business raising boxwoods. He was an active member of the Gurley United Methodist Church for 51 years where he served as a Trustee, and lived daily with a code of work, dedication, and generosity. Following a private family entombment at Valhalla, memorial services will be held at the Gurley United Methodist Church, 121 College Street, Gurley, AL with the Rev. Dale Capron officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 to 2:30PM prior to the memorial service which will commence at 2:30PM.
