Glenn "Pete" Johnson
July 28, 1944 – October 30, 2018
Glenn “Pete” Johnson began his travels on of road of life July 28, 1944 in Sherwood, Tennessee. He was one of thirteen children born to the late George W. Johnson and Anna K. Thompson Johnson. Pete, as he was affectionately known, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 in Huntsville, Alabama at the age of 74.
Pete’s life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Christy Noren-Hentz of New Market United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday.
Pete was employed by Vulcan Materials Company as a truck driver and retired after 25 years of service. He loved to cook, watch any kind of races that involved cars and talking on the phone with family and friends.
In addition to Pete’s parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Brenda Johnson, Jean Wilbourn and Elizabeth Cagle; and one brother, Thomas Johnson.
He leaves to cherish precious memories his wife of 22 years, Kay Johnson of New Market, Alabama; son, George Michael Johnson of Kentucky; two stepsons, Terry Scott of New Market, Alabama and Michael Putman (Melody) of Hollytree, Alabama; one stepdaughter, Kimberly Hargrave of Union Grove, Alabama; eight grandchildren, Kyle and Casey Hargrave of Union Grove, Jaret (Breanna) of Woodville, Alabama, Emily, Gracie and Allie Putman of Hollytree, James Avis of Huntsville and David Avis of Oregon; six great grandchildren; three brothers, Steve Johnson (Cheryl), Larry Johnson (Linda), both of Huntsville and Kenneth Johnson (Patsy) of Arab, Alabama; and one sister, Veronica Lance of New Market.

Pete we loved you and I know you loved mine and Kenneth’s kids and grandkids. You always were asking about them and asking how Noah and Aidan were doing in football. You will be missed and I know you hated living the way you were. Hope you are walking in heaven with Jesus. You were loved by our family.
