Hazel Jamail Woods

Hazel Jamail Woods,94, died Wednesday, May 6 in Huntsville, AL. She leaves her son , Dr Charles David Woods, Jr(Zoe),her daughter Carole Woods Williams(Dodd), her four granddaughters Emily, Abigail, Becca and Alyssa, her great granddaughters Kennedy and Claire and her nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Charles David Woods, Sr(November 7, 2019).

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, the daughter of Assad Dahr Jamail and Liza Jamail she had four older brothers (George, Fred, Henry and Paul). She attended Sacred Heart Academy and then graduated from Saint Thomas University with a degree in English.

Hazel was a stay at home mother until her children started college. She then worked at Millsaps College in the Adult Education Department. She was a loving mother, wife and grandmother. She was a devout Catholic who loved her faith and family above everything else.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Merciful Jesus Catholic Church, 10509 Segers Road, Madison, Al 35756 on Thursday, May 21,2026 at 12:00 PM. Internment will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Parkway Memorial Cemetery, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
