Hugh Dean Yates

December 27, 1927 – February 12, 2015

Hugh Dean Yates, of Huntsville, was born December 27, 1927, in Watauga County, North Carolina to the late Julius L. Yates and Addie Mast Yates. He departed this life on February 12, 2015, at the age of 87. Mr. Yates was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, the love of his life, Daisy Hall Yates and his siblings.

“Dad”, as he was affectionately called by his children, was an avid Auburn fan and Democrat that called Huntsville home for over 50 years. He cherished and loved his family and friends. Old cars and four-legged friends were among his favorite things. We will all miss his wonderful smile, happy spirit and sense of humor. He will be sincerely missed and always remembered.

He leaves to treasure his memory and continue the legacy his sons, Steven Dean Yates (Pam) of Meridianville, Alabama, James Rockland Yates (Nancy) of New Market, Alabama; daughter, Terrie D. Hayes (Greg) of Lake Norman, North Carolina; and grandchildren, Kelly Yates Fike (Matt), Allison Yates Marshall (Jared) and Jessica Jean Yates.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home. Funeral services will commence at 2:00 pm in Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Tommy Bolan officiating. Military Honors and the Interment will immediately follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
