Jackie Brooks Guin, age 81, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022. Jackie was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Brooks and Annie Mae Guin, as the oldest of three children. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Judy Bruce Guin. He is survived by his daughter Kelli Guin Vest and son-in-law, David; brother, Bill Guin (Vicky); sister, Martha Lee (Frank); significant other, Barbara Haynes; grandchildren, Ellis and Jackson Vest; and many nieces and nephews.
Jackie graduated from Hueytown High School, where he played football, baseball, and basketball. He went on to play college football on scholarship at Colorado State, and later Jacksonville State University. He graduated with a degree in accounting and later received an MBA.
Jackie joined the Army and served as a Captain in the 3rd Armor Division in the Vietnam war. After his service, he moved to Huntsville and worked for the General Accountability Office (GAO), eventually becoming Assistant Director through his exemplary service. During his career at GAO, he received many regional and division-wide awards. In addition, he was selected for the agency-wide meritorious and exceptional service awards.
Visitation will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 11:00 AM until noon. The church is located at 607 Airport Road SW, Huntsville, Alabama. The funeral service will follow visitation.
