James Hudson Miller Sr. was born to Herman and Bettie Miller on February 6, 1928 in the Bronx, New York. As a young man he decided to join the United States (U.S.) Armed Forces, serving in both the Navy and Army.
Rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant, James retired after twenty years of faithful service, including a combat tour in the Korean War. Following his military service, he joined the U.S. Postal Service, spending the bulk of his career as a Postal Police Officer, until his second and final retirement.
James was active in the various communities where he resided and in the Catholic Church, volunteering at numerous agencies and organizations and serving as gym instructor, athletic coach, a Knight of Columbus (4th Degree) as well as a Church Usher.
A devoted husband and father, James, along with his wife Joan, raised five children to cherish his memory: Betty Gail, James Jr., Jerry Sidney, Zechara Jay and Terry Joan, along with his grandchildren: Kenny, Portia, Sherwin, Raul, Floyd, Mechelle, Michael and Douglas; as well as numerous other family members, friends and colleagues.
Most importantly, James joins his loving wife Joan and all the other faithful departed souls in the presence of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in Eternity. Amen
