

James L. “Jim” Pendergrass passed away on August 18, 2021 at the age of 96. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Priest and Lora Pendergrass; his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Reams Pendergrass; brother, Joe Pendergrass, two-year-old sister, Allie B. Pendergrass and 17-year-old granddaughter, Kimberly Rae Pendergrass.
He is survived by his sons, Ray (Carolyn) Pendergrass and Bill Pendergrass; brother, Tommie Pendergrass; grandsons, Patrick (Rhonda) Pendergrass, Howard (Sandi) Pendergrass, Kevin (Bethany) Pendergrass; granddaughter, Brooke (Bryan) Hutchins; great grandchildren, Ethan Pendergrass, Haley (Marcus) Busey, Holly Pendergrass, Harken Hutchins and Haylen Hutchins; great great grandsons, Trenton, Easton and Corbin Busey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews who were very special to him.
Jim was a longtime member of the Meridianville Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific. He was in sales most of his life working at Montgomery Ward, Sears, McRae’s and other stores where he received numerous awards through the years.
He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He enjoyed gardening, walking and reading. He was so proud of all of his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
After a light stroke in October of 2014, he lived his final years at Millennium Nursing Home where he was very happy and received excellent care. He was also under HH Hospice Family Care the last few months of his life.
Visitation will be at Valhalla Funeral Home on Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 10:00am until 12:00pm. There will be no Funeral Service.
