

Janelda “Jan” Dean Milam a long time resident of Madison County, passed away Monday, April 18, 2016 at Huntsville Hospital. She was born November 18, 1933 to proud parents Orville W. Langrell and Mamie Walker Langrell. Those left to cherish Jan’s memory and continue the legacy are two daughters, Christa M. Ayers (Jason) of New Market, AL and Alicia A. Ellis (Jeff) of Birmingham, AL; one step-grandson, Jordan Ellis; one brother, Duane Langrell of LA and her beloved dog, Riley. She was employed by FBI in Washington D.C. where she met the love of her life, Keith G. Milam. They were married May 10, 1951. They moved to Huntsville in the 50’s and opened an ice cream store named Dipper Dan on Andrew Jackson Way. They both worked in the insurance industry and opened their own agency in the 80’s. Jan was a member of Mayfair Church of Christ in Huntsville, AL. Among her many talents were her singing alto in a gospel quartet. The quartet traveled around Arkansas singing at different radio stations and churches. She enjoyed playing golf in her later years and was a HUGE Alabama fan. You may visit with the family Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Valhalla Funeral Home from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Funeral services, officiated by Tim Bell, will begin at 1:00pm in The Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will immediately follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
