Jerry Don Tomes November 20, 1955 – February 7, 2016 Mr. Jerry Don Tomes, age 60 of Benton, KY passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jim Burnstine and Jack Burnstine, one sister, Edna Vaught. Born Sunday, November 20, 1955 in Paducah, KY, he was the son of the late Thomas Harold Tomes, Jr. and the late Josephine (Griffin) Tomes. He retired after 20 years of service with the U.S. Army, where he achieved the rank of Sargent First Class, he also was a private financial consultant for school districts in Kentucky. He was a member of Four Rivers Covenant Church in Calvert City, KY. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Vickie (Blount) Tomes of Benton, KY, one son, Jerry Don Tomes, Jr. of Huntsville, AL, daughter, Nichola Ann Tomes of Benton, KY, brother, Robert Burnstine of Huntsville, AL, sister, Jodi Piper of Lynchburg, TN. Five grandchildren; Alexis Rolan of Benton, KY, Austin Tomes of Gadsden, AL, Kaylen Shafer of Benton, KY, Ashlynn Tomes of Gadsden, AL, Treyton Mach of Benton, KY, two great grandchildren: Hayden Rolan of Woodstock, GA and Addison Rolan of Benton, KY. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, February 12, 2016, at Valhalla Funeral Home. Eulogy will be given at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2016 in the chapel of the Valhalla Funeral Home, Huntsville, AL.
