

Mr. Jesse Paul Tubbs, age 79, passed away on September 4, 2025, in Madison, Alabama. Born on August 16, 1946, in Scottsboro, Alabama, Jesse graduated from Scottsboro High School in 1964. He earned his machinist certification from Calhoun State Technical School in 1968 and later received a Bachelor of Arts in Bible from International Bible College (now Heritage Christian University) on April 4, 1977. Meanwhile Jesse met his wife Vicki on the bus to Calhoun in 1967, and they were married by May 3, 1968. Jesse and Vicki celebrated 57 years of marriage May of this year.
Jesse served as a full-time missionary in Trinidad, West Indies from 1977 to 1979. Upon returning to the United States, he became the pulpit minister at Skyline church of Christ in Skyline, Alabama. In 1980, he moved with his wife Vicki and daughter Jessica to Pearl, Mississippi, where he served as pulpit minister for Skyway Hills church of Christ until 1987.
After transitioning into industrial sales and construction consulting, Jesse remained active in ministry. He preached as an interim minister for various congregations and taught Bible classes for over thirty years at Madison church of Christ in Madison, Alabama, where he also served as an elder for many years.
He is survived by his wife Vicki Albright Tubbs; daughter Jessica Tubbs Riis and her husband Bertil; granddaughter Allison Riis; grandson William Riis; and brothers Edward Tubbs (Mary), Parks Tubbs (Linda), and Gordon Tubbs (Shelia). He was preceded in death by his father Willard Tubbs and mother Lucille Womack Tubbs.
Outside of his spiritual and professional pursuits, Jesse enjoyed fishing with his Bass Club, cheering on Alabama Football as a longtime season ticket holder, and wood-turning. He especially treasured time with his grandchildren.
A funeral service honoring Jesse’s life will be held on September 20 at Madison Church of Christ in Madison, Alabama. A memorial service will be held on September 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Madison church of Christ, 556 Hughes Road. Attendees are invited to wear Tide Crimson in honor of Jesse’s love of Alabama football.
