

2 Corinthians 1:3-4: Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we receive from God.
John Hardy Rice was born on February 1, 1955, to the late Maude Mae McCurdy and Bob Rice Sr., in Toney, Alabama, Madison County. He departed this life on March 29, 2024, at his home with family by his side.
John loved the Lord and gave his life to Christ early on at Beaver Dam Primitive Baptist Church.
John dedicated 34 years of his life to the Madison County Commission District 4 leaving a lasting impact on the community following his retirement. John was a man of good faith, kindness, and love. He always made others feel loved and supported. He was also known for his amazing grilling skills, winning second place in Athens cook-off Whistle Stop.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Oscar Rice, Melvin Rice, John L. Rice, sisters Willie Lee Mccollum-Rice, Jessie Mae Rice, Yvonne McLean, Great Grandson Jarques Pride, nephew Paul Robinson-Rice, nieces Carolyn Robinson and Margerite Petty.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his wife Louella Rice of Toney, AL, three daughters Betty Campbell-Abrams (Reginald) of Houston, TX, Vanda Campbell of Huntsville, AL, and Brenda Campbell (Dorez) of Huntsville, AL. Seven grandchildren (Sheena (Ty), Marco, Aaron, Bianca, Richard, Alejandro, Tymeish&) and eleven great-grandchildren (Miracle was his pride and joy). Five siblings Bob Rice Jr. of Huntsville, AL, Roosevelt (Willie P.) Miller of Huntsville, AL, John Wesley Rice (Audrey) of Huntsville, AL, Michael Miller of Huntsville, AL. Sister Mae Elizabeth Rice of Harvest, AL. A devoted niece Mary Spillman (William) of Harvest, AL, nephews Jayson Rice of Huntsville, AL, Isaac Fitch (Andrea) of Seoul, Korea, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and in-laws, and friends.
