

He was born March 12th, 1945, in West Virginia; son of E.J. and Helen Harris.
Upon Graduating High School, he enlisted into the Marine Corps, where he served in the Vietnam War. Johnny was stationed in Camp Pendleton, California, when he returned stateside where he met the love of his life Judith C. Hastings. After being married in 1968 and welcoming their first child, Jodi, they relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where they soon welcomed two more beautiful children, John and Elizabeth. While raising three children, Johnny took a job working for Delta Airlines as a fuel maintenance technician. After retiring and relocating to Griffin, Georgia, he turned his focus toward his church ministry and raising grandchildren. He was known as a staple of his church and community. In March of 2023, Johnny and Judith made the move to Huntsville, Alabama, caring for himself and Judith until his untimely passing.
Johnny was the pillar and patriarch of his family. He was kind, loving, generous, and always forgiving. He was faithful to his family, church, and community. He had never met a stranger and always welcomed them with unwavering love and an open heart. For even strangers need to feel loved. For those that knew him, he was known as Love, Daddy, Grandaddy, and Brother. A devoted Christian man that strived to be welcomed into the gates of heaven.

He is survived by His Wife of 56 loving years, Judith C. Hastings, 1 surviving sibling, Vickie L. Gasaway, 3 Children: Daughter Jodi Pangburn (Husband: Robert), Son John Hastings (Wife: Lacey), and Daughter Elizabeth McDaniel (Spouse: Tony). 8 Grandchildren: Jeremy, Amanda, Arlene, Alex, Michael, Hallie, Trenton, and Elijah, and 7 Great Grandchildren: Skylar, Malachi, Liam, Tyce, Nolynn, Aspen, and Aiden.
