

Joseph E. “Joe” Waggett, Jr. (81) of Huntsville, AL drifted away peacefully in the early morning hours on Thursday, January 30, 2025 surrounded by family. He walked in faith through congestive heart failure and a multitude of health issues.
Joe was born September 3, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland. He grew up as an only child and traveled to many locations with his military family. Joe settled in Satellite Beach, Florida and graduated from Melbourne High School in 1961. He married his high school sweetheart, Julia Elizabeth (Liz), on October 10, 1964 and began his family. Joe and his family moved to Huntsville, AL in 1969, where he lived an amazing life filled with relationships. His hobbies include Gun collecting, Rolling Thunder motorcycle riding, car shows (Mustangs), football, boating, water skiing and spending time with his three boys and their friends weightlifting. His professional career as a Computer Software Engineer carried him from being a data processing supervisor at Kennedy Space Flight Center to a contractor on Redstone Arsenal working on the Y2K Solutions project. He dedicated his life to his wife Liz of 46 years and the raising of their three sons.
Joe was preceded in death by Joseph Waggett, Sr. (father) and Gladys Waggett (mother), Liz Waggett (wife). He is survived by his sons; Steve (Tammy) Waggett, David Waggett, and Chris (Stephanie) Waggett, grandchildren; Carter Waggett, Will Waggett, Brayden Waggett, Alex (Madison) Weeks, Kendall (John Holder) Sisk, and Kyle (Emilee) Sisk, great grandchildren; Charleigh Holder, Tatum Weeks, Hunter and Shelby Sisk and special friend Carol Stewart.
Joe was a member of Whitesburg Baptist Church and before that attended Faith Presbyterian.
To honor and celebrate his life, a visitation for Joe will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home & Memory Gardens, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811, followed by a Celebration of Life Service officiated by Brother Benny Berry at 1:00 pm in Valhalla's Celebration Chapel. Entombment will immediately follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens at the Chapel of Love Mausoleum.
