Lesley.
He accepted Christ into his life at the age of 8 years old, and was added to the Union Hill Primitive Baptist church family. He served on the Junior Usher Board and in the Youth Choir. He graduated from J.O. Johnson High School, he entered into the United States Air Force. There he served for over 23 years of service and retired as a Master Sergeant (E-7). At the time of his transition he employed with March Air Force Base in California.
Most of all he enjoyed serving the Lord. He could not wait to enter the doors of Union Hill on Wednesday Night for Bible Study, and Sunday morning for worship. He loved his pastor.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Mrs. Sharita Lesley of Riverside, California; his daughter, Mrs. Jessica Hooper (Gimel), Los Angeles, California; his stepdaughter, Ms. Montana Bloe; stepson, Mr. Robert Bloe; granddaughter, Amira Hooper; a loving mother, Mrs. Hattie G. Lesley, Huntsville, Alabama; brother, Mr. Victor H. Lesley (Felicia), Huntsville, Alabama; one sister, Ms. Janine Lesley, Birmingham, Alabama; two nieces, Ms. Shonda N. Lesley, Buford, Georgia, and Ms. Ashley D. Lesley, Kent, Washington; one nephew, Mr. Christopher A. Lesley (Raechell), Meridianville, Alabama; who affectionately called him their uncle, Denzell because of his looks; three special aunts: Pastor Endia Scruggs; Mrs. Bessie Lanier and Mrs. Carrie Jasper. a special friend, Mrs. Linda Lesley, Los Angeles, California. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He often said he was proud to have been raised in the "Hollow" and would be a "Hollow boy" all his life. He was so proud to be a grandfather to his little Amira. You could hear him say " I've made mistakes, in my life, but I also did my best to stay true to who I am and tried to do my best."
To everyone who knew him, he was "JUST VEL."
